OUR BACK STORY |
STOPS to Violence began in 1992 as the Provincial Partnership Committee on Family Violence. This group was formed to help government and community partners work together in new ways to address family violence. The partnership believed violence and abuse result from learned behavior and social systems that promote power and control. From the beginning, we used an approach based on respect, diversity, empowerment, flexibility, and cooperation. The partnership welcomed anyone with knowledge, interest, time, and energy to contribute. In 1998, the group became known as Saskatchewan Towards Offering Partnership Solutions (STOPS) to Violence. Today, STOPS to Violence is a growing network that continues to uphold values of relationship-building, respect, equity, diversity, and cooperation. |
